A finished circuit can be both educational and decorative. This heart-shaped flow-light kit uses 32 colourful LEDs to create an animated display while giving developing makers focused practice with polarity, component placement, and consistent solder joints.

Skills this project can develop
- Identifying LED polarity before installation
- Reading component positions on a printed circuit board
- Keeping components aligned while soldering
- Producing neat and reliable solder joints
- Inspecting a completed board before applying power
Why LEDs are useful for learning
LEDs provide immediate visual feedback. Correct orientation and sound solder joints help the animation work as intended, while an unlit section can guide the builder toward a reversed LED, weak joint, or missed connection. Troubleshooting the pattern makes the finished display part of the learning process.
A careful build sequence
Sort and inspect the components before starting. Confirm every LED’s orientation, work section by section, and examine the underside of the board for bridges or incomplete joints. Only connect power after the assembly has been checked.
Safety and kit details
Use suitable ventilation and eye protection while soldering. Knowledgeable adult supervision is recommended where appropriate. Soldering tools and the required power source may not be included. LED colours, board details, and included components can vary by configuration, so review the current product images before ordering.
